Just the audio, as MP3

Paste the video link and get an audio file that plays on any phone, computer or car stereo.

Not every video needs to be watched. A talk, a sermon, a class, a podcast recorded on video or a song an independent artist posted on their own Page all work just as well as sound alone. As MP3, the file is far smaller, plays with the screen off and can go onto the car's USB stick or into your phone's music app.

ClipsKeep extracts the audio from a public Facebook video and gives you a good-quality MP3 (192 kbps), named after the post's title. You don't have to download the video first or use another program to convert it: it all happens in one step.

How to download the audio from a Facebook video

  1. Copy the video link in the Facebook app (Share, then Copy link) or from your browser's address bar.
  2. Paste the link in the box above and tap Find video.
  3. Choose Audio only. The server prepares the MP3 on the spot, so the download may take a few seconds to start.
  4. Open the file in your phone's or computer's music player. On iPhone it lands in the Files app and plays right there.

When MP3 beats video

Video is unbeatable when the picture matters. But in many cases audio alone is more practical:

Common problems with MP3

The download takes longer than the video. The MP3 conversion happens on the server the moment you ask for it. For videos over an hour, it can take a bit longer. The file starts downloading as soon as the conversion produces its first data.

The audio sounds quiet or poor. The MP3 keeps the quality of the original sound. If the video was recorded far from the microphone or in an echoey room, the conversion can't improve it.

The video has no audio option. Some posts have no sound track, such as silent videos with captions. In that case the site doesn't show the Audio only option.

I don't know where the file went. On Android, check the Downloads folder. On iPhone, open the Files app. The Android and iPhone guides show the way with pictures.

Questions about MP3

What quality is the MP3?

The audio is converted at 192 kbps, a good balance between quality and size. An hour of audio takes about 85 MB, much less than the same length of video in HD.

Can I download songs by artists?

Only ones you have the right to listen to that way. Songs an independent artist shares for free on their own Page are a good example. Commercial music is copyrighted and belongs on the official streaming services.

Does the MP3 play in my car stereo?

Yes. MP3 is the most widely supported audio format there is: it plays on USB sticks, car radios, portable speakers and every phone.

Can I cut out just one part of the audio?

Not on this site: you get the full audio track. To keep only a stretch, open the MP3 in a free audio editor or in your phone's voice memo app, which can usually trim files.

Can I send the audio on WhatsApp?

Yes. Send it as a document or through your phone's share menu. Because it's much smaller than the video, an MP3 rarely goes over WhatsApp's size limit.
